Music at BARD COLLEGE places special emphasis on creative development, not only for music majors but for all liberal arts students interested in studying music. Highly independent students typically design their own programs, with guidance, support and opposition from faculty.
Flute students play chamber music, compose, perform in improvisation ensembles, study electronic music, interacting with a student body and faculty with an outrageously wide range of interests.
The HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY Music Department offers a program particularly strong in the vitally important area of public school music education. Students fearless enough to choose this vocation have the opportunity here to perform in both large and small ensembles -- orchestra, band, jazz ensemble, chorus, new music ensemble, flute ensemble, woodwind quintets, and others. Performance majors study side-by-side with music education majors, increasing the perspective of both groups.
