His intricate, mercurial work often mirrors human interactions and relationships. The Flute Concerto (2008) received its World Premiere performance with Emmanuel Pahud, flutist, and the Jerusalem International Chamber Orchestra, on September 9, 2008 in Jerusalem.

- Friday, August 14th at 1:00 PM: with the Da Capo Chamber Players, Static by Sebastian Currier (this piece won the Gravemeyer Award in composition last year)
- Saturday, August 15th at 12:30 PM: Boulez, Sonatine, with Linda Hall, piano
- Sunday, August 16th, in the “Telemann-a-thon”`, John Solum has put together an incredible event: all the Telemann duos for two flutes. Carol Wincenc and Patricia Spencer will perform the Opus 2 Sonatas (e minor, b minor, E major)
