Pieces by graduate student composers:
Also played at the festival, works by Syracuse composers:
You might play in a gamelan ensemble, or play a chamber music piece (perhaps with members of the Da Capo Chamber Players), or do some guided improvisation, or sing along with John Harbison's setting of Amazing Grace or Ain't Goin' to Study War No Mo'.
(For some events, no special advance knowledge of music is needed to participate -- but attendees who play instruments or sing will find ample opportunities to do so!)

Every Balinese village has a gamelan ensemble that meets regularly – with players from ages 5 to 95. Bethany Collier, gamelan professor at Cornell University, will give participants some very simple basics – and then they'll play a Balinese folk-tune setting by composer Shirish Korde, in a special workshop with the Da Capo members.
(And this is only one of the fun events in the 2-day festival!)
Lots of terrific new music CDs, T-shirts (and even some new music refreshments)
