One of the most exciting composers of the century, Elliott Carter stirs the hearts and delights the minds of performers and listeners alike. Da Capo and Elliott Carter presented a trio of classics -- Mr. Carter's Sonata for flute, oboe, cello, and harpsichord; Henry Cowell'sQuartet for flute, oboe, cello, and harpsichord; and Carter's Sonata for cello and piano -- juxtaposed with scintillating newer pieces by Mr. Carter and a work by Goffredo Petrassi, an Italian colleague from Mr. Carter's many years as visiting composer at the American Academy in Rome.
